Andrea Garland in the Telegraph Magazine

Craft Crunch want to congratulate Andrea Garland on being featured in the 4th July issue of the Telegraph Magazine! We're not at all surprised that word is spreading fast about her divine balms in vintage tins.

Well done!

To peruse Andrea's wares look here or pay her a visit at Sunday Upmarket, off Brick Lane.

Craft Crunch Mother's Day gift guide

Alert, alert!

Mother's Day is fast approaching - Sunday 22nd March, only two weeks away...

The incredible woman who did your laundry, cooked your meals and stayed up all night mopping your brow when you were poorly deserves something better than a last-minute box of chocolates or a bunch of carnations from the petrol station.

With Craft Crunch as your guide, there's no excuse for shoddy gifts! We've put together the ultimate guide for your Mother's Day needs. You'll probably end up coming away with something for yourself, too...

You have two Saturdays left to visit the girls on the I Like Birds stall on Broadway Market. You're sure to find something Mum will treasure forever among the handmade earrings, brooches and other trinkets. Prices start at £10 for a pair of earrings.

A few stalls down is Kim with her Lucky Bird cards and recycled bags. Everyone we've given one of Kim's cards to so far has absolutely loved them, so you are sure to be on to a winner here. Prices start at £3.

Also on Broadway Market is Almendra, where you'll find Anna selling her gorgeous hand-bound notebooks, as well as (she assures us!) some very special Mother's Day cards. Prices start at £8 for a fabric bound book.

You only have next Sunday the 15th (or a very early start on the 22nd!) to pop over to Sunday Upmarket off Brick Lane to catch Eduardo and Silvana at their Beyond Fabrics stall. Here you'll find an array of homewares fashioned from vintage inspired fabrics. Prices start at £3.50 for a card or you can really impress that mother of yours and buy her one of their lovely cushions for £28.

A few stalls over is Andrea Garland with her cute vintage tins containing soothing muscle balm, lip balm and larger tins (such as the one pictured below) containing travel sized jars of face cream, toner, cleanser, etc - the perfect gift for a mother in need of pampering! All are completely unique and once you've cleared out the tin you can return it to her for a re-fill. Prices vary according to the tin the product is housed in, but expect to pay upwards of £8.

If you missed I Like Birds at Broadway Market on Saturday, you'll also find them here, just around the corner from Andrea.

Click here to find out more about I Like Birds, here for Lucky Bird, here for Almedra, here for Beyond Fabrics and here for Andrea Garland.

Also, people, it is important to remember that what your poor Ma would really like on Mother's Day is to see or hear from you! So don't forget to call, visit, or better yet, cook her a delicious Sunday roast!

Jill: hand printed cards & leather purses

Jill's stall was so busy it was almost impossible to get her undivided attention in order to interview her (see left, meticulously gift wrapping a purchase for a customer). She has been at Sunday Upmarket since it started 3-4 years ago. She works from her studio on Brick Lane and carts all her wares to her stall every week using an amazing giant wheelbarrow that her brother made for her especially (see below!).

She first started hand printing her gorgeous greetings cards and leather purses 6 years ago as a hobby and it's easy to see how it's become so successful. You'll be a bit late now to pick up one of her heart cards for Valentines Day, but why not surprise the love of your life with one for no reason? It would certainly gain you some brownie points. Prices from £2 - 3.50.

Her charming leather purses come in five sizes priced £14 - 35 and would make perfect birthday presents. All are printed by hand by Jill.

"I love having my stall in Sunday Upmarket because there's no crap here - a lot of people make their own stuff".

Name: Jill Green

Brand/label: Jill

You can come and meet Jill at her stall in Sunday Upmarket every week. Her greetings cards are also available in Magma, Artwords Bookshop on Rivington Street and Paul Smith in New York. To find out more, visit her website

Bobby Dazzler: dolls

"I recognise you"
"I recognise you, too!"
So began a random encounter when I unexpectedly ran into a fellow ex-Camberwell College of Arts student earlier on today while we were hunting for more Craft Crunchers.

Since I last saw Rosie and Fumie five years ago their passion for illustration has developed into a succesful business making super cute soft toys with their own personal biography attached. The dolls first came about as an accompaniment to the stories the girls were writing and illustrating. Now those pesky critters have taken over and the girls have had no choice but to take them on full-time!

Each toy is handmade using reclaimed fabric and buttons and has a label telling you which magical place he or she has come from. I fell in love with the cute monkey with a brass nose who says "I escaped from the zoo but don't know what to do with myself now" (see below). The toys cost from £10 - 25 each. Bobby Dazzler has been operating full-time for the last year.

" We like having our stall here because you meet the customers and get immediate feedback. We also have a lot of friends with stalls nearby ".

Name: Rosie Short, 29 & Fumie Kamijo, 28
From: Brick Lane
Are: Illustrators and makers of dolls & soft toys
Brand/label: Bobby Dazzler

You can give a Bobby Dazzler creature a home by visiting the girls at Sunday Upmarket (you won't be able to walk away empty handed!), or at Super Superficial on Fouberts Place, W1. They're also available in Rome, Tokyo and Cornwall! To find out more, look here

Andrea Garland: natural beauty products

Andrea Garland began as an aromatherapist 9 years ago, and first started making her own natural beauty products as presents for clients. Demand soon increased, and necessity being the mother of invention, her collection of vintage tins seemed an obvious and beautiful solution to the question of what to put her luxurious balms in.

Her collection ranges from rose body and lip balms (including scents for men), an anti-inflammatory ginger muscle soother, all housed in unique vintage tins and pots, as well as face creams for different skin types. As someone a bit wary of all things alternative and patchouli related, I was really impressed with the subtle and lovely smells on offer. Andrea also offers a cost-effective, eco-friendly and just brilliant refill service, costing roughly half the price of your original purchase. Craft-crunch-tastic.

"I make everything in my kitchen, and just before Christmas things were so busy I drove my husband mad because we couldn't even cook dinner".

Name: Andrea Garland
From: Hackney
Is: Natural beauty products
Brand/label: Andrea Garland

Andrea's beauty products can be found at the Sunday Upmarket off Brick Lane and at Franklin Alvarez on Columbia Road. Occasionally she can also be found at Greenwich Market. More information about her can be found on her website.
